The Blue Jackets trimmed their training camp roster by 11 players ahead of Saturday's preseason game against the Washington Capitals, the final exhibition game before opening night on Oct. 12.
They loaned goalie Jet Greaves, forward James Malatesta, and forward Hunter McKown to AHL Cleveland, placed defensemen Marcus Bjork, defensemen Jake Christiansen, forward Josh Dunne, forward Brendan Gaunce, forward Carson Meyer, and defensemen Billy Sweezey on waivers for the purpose of assigning to Cleveland, returned forward Justin Pearson to Cleveland on his AHL deal, and released forward Stefan Matteau to from his NHL professional tryout contract and is expected to join the Monsters training camp on a tryout contract.
There are 19 forwards, 10 defensemen, and three goalies remaining on the Blue Jackets roster. They must cut down the roster to 23 players by Monday at 5 p.m. ET.

The club will travel to Washington and take on the Capitals on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET to finish their preseason slate.
