No lead is ever safe.

It was a hometown reunion for Danforth and Adam Fantilli who grew up in Ontario. Fantilli went to Maple Leafs games growing up as a Boston Bruins fan. In his first game back, he had the opportunity on the top line with Danforth and Gaudreau.
This will also be a return home for #CBJ forward Justin Danforth, who hails from Oshawa, Ontario. He's played once in this building, but COVID restrictions back in 2021 meant a lot of his family couldn't be here. He'll have a big crew tonight.

Adam Fantilli says hell have over 100 family members, friends and acquaintances at Scotiabank Arena tonight for his first NHL game in his hometown of Toronto. He was a Boston fan growing up because of his dad and used to come here to watch the Bruins as a kid. #CBJ

Fantilli had three shots and was 7-for-14 in the face-off circle in 19:29 ice time. He also had a blocked shot.
Laine left the game in the second period after a hit and an awkward collision into the boards. Ryan Reaves (1:36, two shifts) left the game in the first period after a collision into the boards. The Maple Leafs entered the night in third place in the Atlantic Division with 35 points and the same number of regulation wins (eight) as Columbus. Columbus set a franchise record with 38 blocked shots, surpassing the previous high of 34 on Mar. 17, 2012, at Vancouver. The Blue Jackets' six goals against the Maple Leafs are the most against Toronto since they scored five on Apr. 6, 2016, in a 5-1 win.
First Period
In their first game since Sunday, the Blue Jackets came in as rested as they have been all season, eager to jump out first on the scoreboard as they have done a lot recently.

Overtime
Go figure this stat came into play.
An interesting note about the #CBJ all-time series vs. Toronto: Just five of 36 regular-season games in the series have gone to overtime, with the Blue Jackets winning four of five with one tie.

Johnson's overtime goal at 3:26 capped off his first career three-point game and multi-goal game as the Blue Jackets skated away with what should have been an easy win.
