The first trade of the Don Waddell era is in the books.
The Columbus Blue Jackets are trading forward Alexandre Texier to the St. Louis Blues, according to Pierre LeBrun of TSN.

In exchange, the Blue Jackets are acquiring a 4th round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
Texier was a second round draft pick (45th overall) by the Blue Jackets in 2017. He scored 34 goals and added 45 assists for a total of 79 points in a total of 201 games with Columbus.
After missing the 2022-23 season to be overseas on a personal matter, Texier set career highs in goals (12) and assists (18) in 2023-24.
According to Texier's agent, Dan Milstein, the 24-year-old has agreed to a two-year extension with the Blues.

Texier was a restricted free agent, who made $1.5 million this season. His extension with St. Louis is at $4.2 million total, for an average annual value of $2.1 million.
