Vitaly Abramov's incredible regular season is apparently rolling right into his postseason.

After failing to make the Blue Jackets out of camp, their dynamic Russian prospect had no choice but to return to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) for a final season. For most prospects, another year of junior hockey is the norm, but Abramov had just won the league's MVP award, posting 104 points in 66 games.

The soon-to-be 20-year-old followed it up this season with the same 104 points, but in just 56 games.

The only item left for him to accomplish in the QMJHL is to win the President's Cup. His Victoriaville Tigres team (not a typo, I promise) is up 2-0 in its first best of seven series against his old team, the Gatineau Olympiques.

So far, so good. On Sunday, Abramov was named the QMJHL's Player of the Week

From the league release:

After the first week of the playoffs, Abramov’s offensive prowess has remained unchanged. He continuously asserts himself as one of the best players that this league has to offer, currently topping the charts for points in the 2018 QMJHL playoffs.

Abramov tallied two goals and two assists in a Game 1 victory, then followed it up with a goal and an assist in a Game 2 win.

The award was given out before Victoriaville's Game 3 matchup in Gatineau on Tuesday night, but Abramov is still on fire. He scored again, his fourth goal in three playoff games, and added an assist for good measure. The Tigres win gives them a commanding 3-0 series lead.

Abramov was named first star in both Games 1 and 3.

When the Tigres' season comes to an end, Abramov could be recalled by the Cleveland Monsters or the Columbus Blue Jackets.
