After Sergei Bobrovsky pitched a 29-save shutout in his season debut last night, the baton is now passed to young Joonas Korpisalo.

The Blue Jackets got Bobrovsky a decent amount of rest last season but he played a lot of games, particularly in the first half. With the tail half of a back-to-back on tap tonight at the United Center, head coach John Tortorella is giving his No. 2 goaltender an early season start.

According to the club website, Korpisalo was an "expected" starter earlier today. During his pre-game media availability, Tortorella confirmed Korpisalo would get the nod tonight.

Korpisalo started a preseason game in Chicago a few weeks ago and was excellent, making 52 saves in a Columbus win that probably should have had a different outcome. This time, the game counts for two points, and the Blackhawks (who hung 10 on the Pittsburgh Penguins two nights ago) have shown that they can score goals at will.

In 13 starts last season, Korpisalo went 7-5-1 with a 2.88 goals-against average, .905 save percentage and one shutout.
