A poor defensive showing resulted in a 6-4 loss for the Columbus Blue Jackets against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night at Nationwide Arena. Here's the post-game reaction from head coach John Tortorella and a few Blue Jackets players.

John Tortorella

On the goal that gave the Kings the lead: "We missed the coverage. I mean, [Matt Calvert] was right there. I don't think we played that well of a corner, but it's still a 30-foot pass cross ice. [Calvert] sees the guy, and he just lets him get behind."

On any adjustments to a more high scoring game when it was expected to be tight-checking: "No, we just play."

On whether he was happy with start: "Yeah, with some things. Other things no."

On Boone Jenner's return: "After two periods I think he led the forwards in ice time. Ended up with 18-plus [minutes on the ice]. He gives our team a different look, he does a lot of things for us. It's great to have him back in the lineup."

On his instructions to Sonny Milano on the fourth line: "Sonny and I have had many conversations. He doesn't have to change his game, in fact that line had some good shifts. I just want him to be able to play straight ahead, he's still working. Had some good coverages, had some good sticks tonight."

On Oliver Bjorkstrand's play: "I thought he played better than last game. Couldn't find him the last game. Winnipeg I thought he had a decent game. I thought he was skating tonight... the key for [Bjorkstrand] is moving his legs. And I thought he was on the puck."

Matt Calvert

On the game: "It was a game of mistakes, it was just back forth all night. It was one of those games you've just gotta stay patient. Unfortunately we let them get the last goal."

On the last goal scored by the Kings: "I just came off a change, and you try to high up, you try to have your guy. They snapped one right from the boards and it went over two of our guys' sticks and I wasn't quite there and they put it in the back of the net."

On getting physicality back in the lineup: "Yeah we got some size obviously when [Josh Anderson] came back and it was great to see Boone [Jenner] out there, he's been working hard. Battling a tough injury, so he stepped in well, didn't look like he missed a beat out there."

Boone Jenner

On the team playing more physical: "I think there's no question that tonight was going to be fast and hard like that."

On his season debut: "It felt good. I thought I brought what I could bring, but there's obviously things you can look at and build on."
