A down year for the Cleveland Monsters gets a little bit of a boost.
Monsters defenseman and current NHL call-up for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Dean Kukan was selected to participate in the AHL All-Star game. This is Kukan's first time making the team.

In 27 games this season with the Monsters, Kukan has one goal and 11 assists for a total of 12 points on the year. Kukan is tied for third on the team in scoring despite playing as a defenseman.
It will be compelling with the All-Star game coming up whether or not the Blue Jackets will still be in need of Kukan's services. The All-Star game isn't until January 29 and would give the NHL club plenty of time to get healthy.

Kukan isn't the only noteworthy person to make the team, Columbus native and current Winnipeg Jets prospect Jack Roslovic was named to the AHL All-Star team as well. This will be the second time that Roslovic has made the team as an All-Star.
