Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski left tonight's game vs. Washington late in the second period after getting kicked by an errant skate in...well...we'll call it a sensitive area.

In the media business, they call it "the groin."

Athletic trainer Mike Vogt rushed out to attend to Werenski, who was helped off the ice by Brandon Dubinsky and Josh Anderson. FOX Sports Ohio's Dave Maetzold said a doctor had been called to the Blue Jackets' dressing room.

We'll update as more information becomes available.
