Blue Jackets Forward Markus Hannikainen: "It Was Fun To Play Again"

The Columbus Blue Jackets depth has been an issue all season long. After last year, when the team got scoring all throughout the lineup, the team has struggled in that department. They need the bottom-six to step up and provide the offense it had in year's prior.

Part of the issue is the rotating cast of characters that come in and out of the lineup. One player, in particular, forward Markus Hannikainen has played extensively with the Blue Jackets and the Cleveland Monsters (AHL).

He knows that when he is in the lineup that it is all about being a difference maker. Especially when the fourth line hasn't provided the spark they had been hoping for this season.

"Of course," said Hannikainen. "You want to make an impact when you get in the lineup; you have to make an impact to stay in (the lineup). That's the goal, to help the team to win. To make an impact and make a difference."

Getting an opportunity for more ice time against the Devils in the Blue Jackets 6-0 drubbing, Hannikainen enjoyed the extra ice time.

"It was fun to play again," said Hannikainen with a smile on his face. "You know, how the game went, we (fourth line) got some more minutes. I was happy."

With Lukas Sedlak a healthy scratch, it isn't immediately clear how long Hannikainen will be in the lineup. Hannikainen is just happy that the team got back in the win column.

"It doesn't matter what the game is, when the team is doing good, obviously it's a good feeling and gets a good drive to your game. You gotta stay up on the ice and do the same as everyone else, that's how it is."
