After going 0-4-1 out of the All-Star break, the Blue Jackets are winners of two straight, as they defeated the New York Islanders in Brooklyn by a score of 4-1.
In their two game win streak, they've outscored their Metropolitan Division foes to the tune of 10-2, and put 50+ pucks on net in back to back games for the first time in franchise history.
Here's the reaction post game from John Tortorella and company.
John Tortorella
On taking control of the game: "Again, first period, shots from everywhere and we're down 1-0. We just stayed with it, we score a couple of huge goals on our power play. In the third period, I was anxious to see how we're going to react. That's a good team.... but the puck goes in for us. It's not like we're doing anything different from prior games."
On his team's confidence: "They should feel good about their last couple of games; actually, they should feel good about the last five or six games, but you need the result for players to feel good... I'm happy for them."
On Zach Werenski: "He skated well, he escaped very well. One of his better games, not just because he gets the points (he had three assists), but I just thought he skated much better today."
On Oliver Bjorkstrand's game: "I'm really encouraged with his game. I think a lot of things are turning for him, the puck seems to follow him around right now, because he's playing harder away from it... and I think that helps an offense guy."
Brandon Dubinsky
On scoreboard watching: "We didn't get here without loving the game, so we're fans of the game, too. Guys are checking it out, but I don't think it's changing our mindset... It really has no bearing on how we're approaching these games, it's just let's play the best we can to win the hockey game and everything else will take care of itself."
On his goal: "I felt like I had the d-man on my back, and I just said, you know what, I'm going to jam at the net. And I did, and I'm not sure if it was the first or the second rebound, because obviously they're going to clear out the crease and get physical there, but fortunate that it went in the back of the net and gave us a bit of insurance."
Oliver Bjorkstrand
On his defensive game helping his scoring chances: "I think it goes hand-in-hand. I'm trying to win more battles, and just playing a little more of a harder game. I've been more consistent throughout the game."
On chemistry: "It feels good. It's been five, six games now with the same lines. I think it's a good thing, I feel like we're playing some good hockey, and we've gotta keep building on it."
