The Columbus Blue Jackets were able to find depth on the waiver wire once before (claiming Jussi Jokinen from Los Angeles), and earlier today, made a claim to add to their ailing defense.
Defenseman Taylor Chorney, formerly of the Washington Capitals, was picked up on waivers by the Blue Jackets on Wednesday. Chorney will wear the No. 44 for the Blue Jackets.
Chorney has played for the Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Capitals during a journeyman NHL career.
In 165 games played in his career, Chorney has four goals and 18 assists for a total of 22 points. He also only has 56 penalty minutes in those games. He has averaged just over 14 minutes of ice time during his career.
Chorney has one goal and three assists in 24 games played with Washington this season.
