Another goaltender may be joining the Columbus Blue Jackets sooner than you think.
Hockey Buzz writer Aivis Kalnins reports that Elvis Merzlikins is talking to Blue Jackets personnel about a potential move to North America. The Athletic's Aaron Portzline reports that Merzlikins is in Los Angeles to discuss his pro prospects. When asking his agent for word, he provided no comment.

As it was reported prior to World Championships I'm hearing #CBJ prospect Elvis Merzlikisn has traveled to North Ameirca to meet with his agents so he can make a decision on his future. Still has a year left on his deal with Lugano, but there is a chance we see him sign with CBJ

This all comes on the heels of Merzlikins having a stellar 2018 IIHF World Championships. He posted a .940 save percentage and a 1.50 goals against average. Latvia was eliminated during the group stage of the tournament.
The Blue Jackets currently have three goaltenders signed through the 2018-19 season.
