On Friday, Blue Jackets rookie center Adam Fantilli played on a line with Boone Jenner and Roslovic in the team's 4-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils.
However, Fantilli was on the wing, and is scheduled to be in that same spot when Columbus takes on the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night.
In 45 games this season, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft has posted 11-24--25. He's tied for second on the Blue Jackets in points, fourth among rookies in points, and third among first-year players in goals.
On Sunday, Pascal Vincent said that he liked how Fantilli played on Friday and added that part of his game may have started to become predictable.
"So [we're] working on his foundation," Vincent said. "He was more predictable in his reads. He's got so much potential and [I] wanted to take a little bit of weight [off him]."
Vincent also emphasized the importance of players playing with pace.
"I felt the last few games [he] was trying to do the right thing and slowing his game down," Vincent said. "I wanted to see the pace in his game. [By] playing with a guy that's reliable like Boone Jenner, I thought we could see more of a guy that's got pace and taking away a bit of his reads in the d-zone, especially. So I didn't mind it."
When asked how long Fantilli will be on the wing, Vincent said he doesn't know.
"It's not gonna affect his development whatsoever," Vincent said. "He's been playing a lot of good minutes as a center. But being able to play at different positions is to me a big bonus."
The Blue Jackets will kick their five-game road trip off against the Oilers on Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on Bally Sports Ohio.
