Blue Jackets defenseman Jake Bean is out for the season with an upper-body injury he suffered in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Islanders, head coach Pascal Vincent said after Friday's practice.

Bean, who did not play the final 7:30 of Thursday's game, posted 4-9--13 in 72 games this season. He's in the final year of a three-year, $2.33M annual cap hit deal that will take him to restricted free agency with arbitration rights this summer.

Additionally, Vincent provided the following updates:

  • Sean Kuraly (day-to-day, lower body) won’t play Saturday
  • Elvis Merzlikins (day-to-day, lower body) is still out so they’ll need to recall a goalie
  • He doesn’t know the status of Daniil Tarasov (upper body)
  • Johnny Gaudreau will play Saturday after missing Thursday's game with an illness

The Blue Jackets host the Flyers on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on Bally Sports Ohio.
