CBJ GOALS:
Marchenko (P1, 17:09)
Sillinger (P1, 17:43)
van Riemsdyk (P3, 11:25)

For the second straight game, the Columbus Blue Jackets had a third period lead turn into an overtime loss.

Jackson Lacombe tied the game with less than three minutes left and Alex Killorn's second goal of the night was the overtime game-winner as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Blue Jackets 4-3 on Saturday night.

Kirill Marchenko and Cole Sillinger scored first-period goals just 34 seconds apart to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead before the Ducks would tie the game in the second period.

James van Riemsdyk gave Columbus a lead in the middle portion of the final frame before Lacombe's goal found the back of the net with Ducks goalie John Gibson pulled for the extra attacker.

Jet Greaves was again solid in net for the Blue Jackets, stopping 23 of 27 shots. Two of the goals, though, weren't squarely on his shoulders. That was something head coach Dean Evason pointed out.

"The last goal was a breakaway and two shin pads on (the third one)," said Evason.

"He did what we've asked him to do and that's give our team — his team — a chance to get two points."

Here's how the Blue Jackets picked up one point — but not two — in front of the home crowd:

1st Period:

(16:33 - ANA Goal): The Ducks strike first with a goal from Mason McTavish. Anaheim gets a two-on-one and McTavish skirts past Ivan Provorov to beat Greaves. It seems clear that Provorov pushes McTavish into Greaves after the puck crosses the net, but the officials determine that the Ducks forward (somehow) committed goaltender interference. So the goal stands, but the Blue Jackets get a power play out of it...

(17:09 — CBJ Goal): ...and the gift of a power play pays off. Kirill Marchenko picks up his team-leading 11th goal of the season just 36 seconds into the Columbus power play to tie the game at 1-1. It didn't seem like Marchenko's first thought was to shoot, but he was left with plenty of space and snipes it past Ducks goalie John Gibson.

(17:43 - CBJ Goal): From trailing by a goal to leading by a goal in a span of just 70 seconds, The Blue Jackets second goal in 34 seconds comes via Cole Sillinger, who gets his fifth of the season. Sillinger starts this with a quick, aggressive entry into the Ducks zone. The puck ends up on the stick of Zach Aston-Reese, who gets it back to a wide-open Sillinger right in front of Gibson and puts it past him to make it a 2-1 Columbus lead.

2nd Period:

(13:56 — ANA Goal): Alex Killorn ties the game at 2-2 late-ish in the second period. He comes in to replace Frank Vatrano, who was exiting after his shot attempt resulted in a broken stick. The Blue Jackets don't account for Killorn, who gets a great look from Ryan Strome, who won a battle for the puck in the corner to the left of Greaves. Not a lot that Jet could do about this one.

3rd Period:

(11:25 — CBJ Goal): James van Riemsdyk has found the fountain of youth since joining the Blue Jackets top six. His fifth goal of the season gives the Blue Jackets a 3-2 lead with less than nine minutes remaining in the third.

(17:14 — ANA Goal): With Gibson on the bench and the extra skater on, the Ducks tie the game at 3-3. The puck takes a couple of odd deflections off a pair of Blue Jackets and Jackson Lacombe gets the equalizer.

Overtime:

(1:43 — ANA Goal): Alex Killorn gets his second of the evening, this time to win the game less than two minutes into sudden death. An ugly turnover leads to an easy game-winner.
