TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING TUESDAY, DEC. 17 7:00 P.M. AMALIE ARENA TAMPA, FL |
LIGHTNING: |
Jet Greaves is back in goal Tuesday night for the Columbus Blue Jackets.
And for the second time in less than a week, he'll face the highest scoring offense in the league.
This week, that's the Tampa Bay Lightning, who come in averaging exactly 4.00 goals per game.
Greaves first start of the season was last Thursday against the Washington Capitals. Entering that game, the Caps had the edge on the Lightning in goals per game. Powered by 13 goals in their last two games, Tampa has (for now) claimed the top spot.
Head coach Dean Evason believes Greaves is up for the challenge.
"He's competed, he's battled," said Evason. "He did what we've asked him to do and that's give our team — his team — a chance to get two points."
Greaves third start of the season will be his first on the road.
Here's what else to know when the Jackets and Bolts meet for the second of three times in the 2024-25 season:

RE: BOLTS
The Lightning are returning home following a four-game road trip dominated by games in western Canada. Sound familiar? The Bolts, though, have had much more success: 3-1-0, with 18 goals in those four games — including 13 against the Calgary Flames and then back on U.S. soil against the Seattle Kraken. ... In the eight-goal outburst, Nikita Kucherov had a six-point game, including five assists. He's third in the league in assists and tied for third in points. ... Tampa's power play has been great over the last ten games, but used sparingly. Opposing teams are just 3-for-22; a testament to their smart play and strong penalty kill.

JOHNSON OUT, HARRIS IN
Jack Johnson took a stick to the face early in Sunday's loss against Carolina and while he returned for a couple shifts late in the first period, did not return for the remainder of the game. Jordan Harris draws in for Johnson against the Lightning in what will be the 24-year-olds 20th game of the season.

200 FOR MATTY O
Mathieu Olivier will play in his 200th career NHL game Tuesday night. He's cooled from his terrific start to the season, but still has eight goals and 12 points in through 31 games. The eight goals is a career high, and he's just three away from tying his career high in points.
