It’s getting to be that time of year again.
Sure, most hockey seasons just started, but it’s never too early to start prepping for the World Juniors. Hockey Canada and Team Russia will once again take part in the Canada-Russia series. Canada is represented by three separate teams, Team WHL, Team QMJHL, and Team OHL. The WHL released their roster yesterday and Blue Jackets prospect Trey Fix-Wolansky was one of the 20 players selected.
Fix-Wolansky is off to a good start with the Edmonton Oil Kings, leading his team, and ranking fourth in the league with 18 points, in 12 games. This will be Wolansky’s first time playing in this event and truly the first big game of his young career. In his previous two seasons, his team hasn’t made the playoffs. This is an excellent opportunity to see how he plays when the stakes are high.
Other names to keep an eye on include four draft-eligible players; Bowen Byram, Dylan Cozens, Kirby Dach, and Nolan Foote. Each player is currently projected to go in the top half of the first round.
The series gets underway on November 5th.
